Clay Moser
Head Coach Rio Grande Valley Vipers (NBADL)


Clay is currently a NBA advance scout and the current head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Developmental League. Moser has been involved with basketball for over 20 years, and he has experience at almost every position along the way. To give you an idea, Moser began his career as an assistant coach at the junior college level. Since that start back in 1984, his career has taken him all over the world, and his experience is comprehensive. He has been a coach, a CEO, a consultant, General Manager, VP of Basketball Operations, and an advance scout.

Coaching
Moser’s coaching experience is extensive. Most recently, from 2007-2008 Clay was an advance scout for the Orlando Magic on a part-time basis. Before that, Moser was an advance scout for the Sacramento Kings from 2006-2007. In 2005, he was an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs’ summer league team at the Rocky Mountain Review. Moser was also an advance scout for the Golden State Warriors in 2002-03 when Eric Musselman was the head coach.

After that he was a coach and team consultant for the Jilin Northeastern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association during the 2004-05 season. Moser was the head coach and president of the Great Lakes Storm of the CBA in 2003-04. Moser's first major coaching post came under the tutelage of the late Jim Valvano. He was an assistant coach at North Carolina State University from 1987-89. Moser has been to China and back, literally, and he’s served a variety of posts along the way.

Basketball Operations
From 2005 to 2007, Moser served as a consultant for the NBA. In this role Moser was responsible for projects in Basketball Operations, International Business Development and Team Business Operations. In addition, from October 2005 to June 2006, Moser was the Vice President of Business Development for the New Orleans Hornets. Moser has also served as the CEO of the Idaho Stampede and before that he was the Senior Vice President and Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Continental Basketball Association.

Education
Moser graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. Moser also attended Minneapolis Community and Technical College where he received an Associate of Arts in General Studies.
